The program in Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University is widely acclaimed and has international recognition. The program offers excellent oppurtunities for study and research in various fields of structural engineering. A highly experienced faculty and leaders of the future as students are what give the program in structural engineering its reputation. The graduate program in Structural Engineering provides opportunity for study in the analysis and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel, masonry, and composite structural systems. A wide range of courses are available including numerous specialty courses in stability, dynamics, earthquake engineering, bridge design, repair and strengthening, advanced concrete materials, and other such important topics. Experimental research facilities are available in the research labs for the study of behavior of structures under a variety of loadings. Also analytical research is conducted in areas such as numerical techniques, computer methods, material modeling, nonlinear dynamic response, soil-structure interaction, and fluid-structure interaction.
